LOG 009: Canadian Lumber BLM Support Initiative + Resources

Written by Canadian Lumber

June 8, 2020

In light of the current mobilization and calls for change for POC communities in the face of police brutality, this support initiative aims to help those efforts and show public allyship.

As a cannabis company operating in Canada, we’re fortunate to be able to operate legally, in a space that has historically marginalized communities, especially for POC (People Of Colour). Showing support through posts is important, but doing something tangible and putting “our money where our mouth is” has a higher social impact.

Selecting Bail Fund Organizations in local communities is a direct way to ensure the money has immediate impact by minimizing the time already marginalized individuals spend in the criminal justice system; specifically the peaceful protestors. This campaign aligns with the historical racialization of cannabis in the US (and Canada) and connects directly with the current racialization and criminalization of POC.
